Agreement to these Terms

These Terms of Use govern access to VERA PET, a service operated by VetBiomeX LLC (collectively, “VERA PET,” “VetBiomeX,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By creating an account, selecting the acceptance checkbox, or using VERA PET, you enter into an electronic agreement with VetBiomeX LLC.

Our Privacy Policy is a separate notice describing our data practices. Acknowledging it confirms receipt and review; it is not a blanket consent to every possible use of information.

1. Eligibility and account authority

You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter a binding agreement. You may use VERA PET only for pets for whom you are an owner, authorized caregiver, or otherwise authorized to manage the submitted information. Services and features may vary by location.

2. What VERA PET provides

VERA PET is an owner-facing platform for organizing pet profiles, daily observations, records, care routines, reminders, educational information, and requests for location-dependent professional support. A request form is an administrative intake tool only; it is not itself a consultation or appointment.

3. No veterinary or emergency service

Unless you separately enter a professional engagement with an appropriately licensed provider, VERA PET does not practice veterinary medicine and does not diagnose, prescribe, select treatment, establish a prognosis, or create a veterinarian-client-patient relationship. Records and reminders are owner-managed tools and are not monitored by a clinician.

Do not use VERA PET for emergencies. Contact a veterinarian or emergency veterinary hospital immediately for urgent signs, including difficulty breathing, collapse, seizures, inability to urinate, suspected poisoning, severe bleeding, repeated unproductive retching, or major trauma.

4. Optional AI-assisted features

VERA PET may offer AI-assisted educational features from time to time. When an AI-assisted feature is visibly enabled, its output may be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, or unsuitable for a particular animal, is not reviewed by a veterinarian before delivery, and must not be treated as a diagnosis, prescription, medication instruction, dosing decision, definitive prognosis, or emergency response.

Before first use of any enabled AI-assisted feature, VERA PET may require a separate acknowledgment explaining the applicable limitations and information processing. You remain responsible for deciding what to submit and for obtaining appropriate professional care.

5. Location-dependent professional support

VERA PET may display nutrition, behavior, weight-management, regional virtual veterinary partner, and microbiome support. Availability depends on location, provider qualifications, licensing, and acceptance of the request. These services are not currently available in the United States.

Submitting a request does not confirm availability, establish a professional engagement, guarantee scheduling or response time, or create a veterinarian-client-patient relationship. Any future professional service will require separate confirmation and may have additional provider terms, consents, or fees.

6. Accounts and security

You must provide accurate registration information, keep credentials confidential, use reasonable account security, and notify us promptly of suspected unauthorized access. You are responsible for activity conducted through your account to the extent permitted by law.

7. Owner Content and administrative access

“Owner Content” includes information, text, images, files, pet records, reminders, messages, and other material you submit. You retain ownership of Owner Content. You grant VetBiomeX and its service providers a nonexclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, format, transmit, and otherwise process Owner Content only as reasonably necessary to operate, secure, support, improve, and comply with law for VERA PET.

Authorized administrators may access owner-entered information when reasonably necessary for support, security, privacy requests, service administration, legal compliance, or troubleshooting. Access is role-restricted and logged. You are responsible for having authority to submit the information and should not upload human medical records, Social Security numbers, full payment-card data, passwords, or unrelated sensitive information.

8. Owner-entered records and reminders

Medication, supplement, feeding, appointment, and other reminders merely display schedules entered by an owner. VERA PET does not verify medication identity, dose, route, frequency, interactions, contraindications, administration, or clinical appropriateness and does not guarantee notification delivery. Confirm instructions with the prescribing veterinarian and never double a missed dose unless specifically directed by that veterinarian.

9. Acceptable use

You may not misuse VERA PET, interfere with security or operation, access another person’s account or information without authorization, submit unlawful or infringing material, scrape or reverse engineer protected portions of the service, transmit malicious code, impersonate others, or use the service to facilitate unlawful veterinary practice.

10. Free trial, recurring membership, and cancellation

Eligible accounts receive a 14-day free trial. When you affirmatively continue through checkout, the payment method you provide will be charged $7 USD per month after the trial (or immediately if the trial has ended), plus applicable tax, until you cancel. The exact first-charge date and recurring terms are displayed immediately before checkout and on the Stripe-hosted checkout page.

You may cancel online at any time from Account → Manage membership. Cancel before the trial ends to avoid a charge. If you cancel after payment, access continues through the current paid period and no further renewals occur. Except where law requires otherwise, fees already paid are nonrefundable. Consultation or other professional-service fees, if ever offered, are separate and will be disclosed before purchase.

We may change fees only after advance notice required by applicable law. Continued paid use after the effective date constitutes acceptance where permitted; otherwise we will obtain any additional consent required by law.

11. Communications

You consent to receive transactional email needed for account verification, security, privacy requests, consultation-request administration, billing confirmations, trial conversion notices, and membership administration. Marketing communications, if offered, will use a separate opt-in where required.

12. Third-party services

VERA PET relies on service providers that may include WordPress/Automattic for hosting and account functions, Stripe for payment processing, OpenAI when an AI-assisted feature is enabled, and email, security, storage, or infrastructure vendors. Their services may be governed by their own terms and privacy notices. VetBiomeX is not responsible for independent third-party services except as required by law.

13. Availability and changes

We may maintain, modify, suspend, or discontinue features and may apply reasonable limits to protect security and reliability. We do not promise uninterrupted, error-free, or permanent availability and are not responsible for delays caused by events beyond reasonable control.

14. Intellectual property

VERA PET software, design, branding, content, and related intellectual property are owned by VetBiomeX or its licensors. These Terms provide a limited, personal, nontransferable, revocable right to use the service as intended; no other rights are granted.

15. Aggregated information and feedback

We may use information that has been aggregated or deidentified so it cannot reasonably be linked to an individual, subject to applicable law. If you provide suggestions or feedback, you grant us permission to use them without restriction or compensation.

16. Privacy

Our collection and processing practices are described in the Privacy Policy. These Terms do not expand the data uses stated there.

17. Suspension and termination

You may stop using VERA PET and may use the account controls to export or delete information, subject to stated retention limits. We may suspend or terminate access for material breach, fraud, security risk, nonpayment, unlawful activity, or when necessary to protect users or the service. Provisions that by their nature should survive will survive termination.

18. Disclaimers

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, VERA PET IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” VETBIOMEX DISCLAIMS IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT OWNER-ENTERED INFORMATION, REMINDERS, THIRD-PARTY SERVICES, OR OUTPUT FROM AN AI-ASSISTED FEATURE IF ONE IS ENABLED. NOTHING IN THESE TERMS EXCLUDES A WARRANTY THAT CANNOT LEGALLY BE EXCLUDED.

19. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, VETBIOMEX AND ITS AFFILIATES WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST DATA, PROFITS, GOODWILL, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY ARISING FROM VERA PET WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF $100 USD OR THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR VERA PET DURING THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM. THESE LIMITS DO NOT APPLY WHERE PROHIBITED, INCLUDING LIABILITY THAT CANNOT BE LIMITED for fraud, willful misconduct, or personal injury caused by negligence where applicable.

20. Indemnification

To the extent permitted by law, you will defend, indemnify, and hold harmless VetBiomeX and its affiliates from third-party claims arising from your unlawful misuse of VERA PET, infringement by Owner Content, or material breach of these Terms. This obligation does not apply to the extent a claim results from VetBiomeX’s own unlawful conduct.

21. Governing law and forum

Illinois law governs these Terms without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Subject to applicable consumer-law rights, courts located in Champaign County, Illinois have exclusive jurisdiction. These Terms do not require arbitration and do not waive class-action or jury-trial rights.

22. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. We will post the revised version and effective date and provide additional notice or obtain renewed acceptance when material changes or applicable law require it. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance where legally permitted.

23. General terms

These Terms and any expressly incorporated service-specific terms are the entire agreement regarding VERA PET. If a provision is unenforceable, the remainder remains effective. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets.
